RETROMOBILE
PARIS (Feb 8th 2008)

Friday Feb 8th 2008 was the opening day of the Rétromobile Fair in Paris. We knew Vic Elford was running the Monte Carlo Historic rally the first week of February and would be in Paris on Friday, invited by Porsche France.
I told Kurt Ahrens about Vic's passage in Paris and Kurt wanted to see Vic desperately as they didn't see each other anymore since the end of 1970. So Kurt & I met in Zolder on Thursday and went to Brussels in the evening, visited the city and had dinner. We spent the night together in a Brussels hotel and left for Paris Friday morning.
All went well and we arrived there around noon.
At the same time my brother Luc and some friends came by and so we strolled on together. We had a photoshoot of course and welcomed Kurt Ahrens to the Scuderia Rodriguez. Luc had scanned a Scuderia sticker and printed the logo several times on adhesive paper and cut them out. As you'll see, the Scuderia badge was all over the place...
Vic dropped by later and with Kurt, had to sign a lot of pictures. Kurt brought 2 T-shirts for Vic, one had a picture of them after they'd won the Nürburgring 1000km in 1970, the other showed Vic in action in the 908/3 at the Ring in 1971. Champagne was offered to all of us and we had a great time.
We also saw Klaus Bishof and Nicole from the Porsche museum at Stuttgart (Porsche France had a 904 on display and I was told it was a car that belonged to Ferdinand Piëch's sons).
At 6.30pm, Vic had to go and so we said goodbye and wished him well. He had to return to Marseille by high speed train where he resides with the Larrousse family.

Outside (in between the 2 halls) were two Matra's on display, a 530 in Tour de France lay-out and a replica of the car that Pescarolo crashed in private tests at Le Mans 1969 (the M640).
