Ross was born in Manchester, England, 23 November 1954. He attended Reading Grammar School then he studied engineering at the Harwell Atomic Research Establishment and at Reading College. He began his career with Williams Grand Prix in 1978 where he was responsible for the Research and Development Department. He then moved to Force Grand Prix (Lola-Hass) in 1985 where he was chief aerodynamicist. After spells with Arrows Grand Prix 1987-89 and the TWR-Jaguar Team in 1990 as Technical Director, he moved to Benetton in 1992 where he met with Michael Schumacher for the first time. Since December 1996, Brawn has been with the Scuderia Ferrari where he is Technical Director. He won the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Drivers’ Championships with Michael Schumacher and the 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Constructors’ Championships. Ross is married to Jean and they have two daughters, Helen and Amy. They live in Henley-on-Thames, England, and in Maranello, Italy.
